Position Description: Home to Oklahoma's only free standing Children's Hospital and one of the few certified comprehensive stroke centers and nationally designated ECMO Center of Excellence, you will be part of a collaborative team with a forward-thinking approach to pediatric cardiovascular care and treatment. This experienced pediatric team uses the latest advanced innovative technologies, progressive techniques, and extensive research.

The Exercise Physiology Lab Manager under general direction, and in collaboration with the assigned Medical Director and hospital leadership; plans, organizes and manages the clinical and non-clinical operations of the Pediatric Exercise Physiology Lab services, including but not limited to; Stress Exercise Tests, Pharmacologic Stress Tests, Functional Capacity Tests, EKG Tests, Tilt-Table Tests, Metabolic Analysis Studies, Pulmonary Function Studies, and Stress-Echo Studies.

Hours: Monday - Friday (Days)

Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with pediatric cardiologists, nurses, sonographers and other members of the Heart Center team to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic and educational exercise physiology services to patients from the age of birth through adulthood in an academic-affiliated acute-care treatment facility.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure accomplishment of service area goals and objectives.
  • Actively contributes to the enforcement and achievement of all required accreditation, professional practice and/or governmental standards.
  • Develops and oversees continuing education and training programs to enhance staff skills and qualifications.
  • Supports academic and clinical training affiliations to promote recruitment and career field opportunities.
  • Develops and implements annual and long-term strategic plans and budgets (capital, operating, staffing).
  • Prepares and submits business proposals to improve the capability, efficiency and quality of the services provided.
  • Establishes and monitors productivity and quality assurance targets.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the execution and management of all operational transactions pertaining to the service area.
  • Evaluates clinical acquisition and information systems.
  • Identifies, develops, monitors and tracks opportunities and actions implemented to promote improvements.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science or health-related curriculum and Master of Science degree in Exercise Science from a State and/or nationally approved school with a fully accredited training curriculum
Experience:
  • Four (4) years of full-time laboratory experience as an Exercise Physiologist in an acute-care healthcare facility (two of the 4 years must include dedicated pediatric and adult congenital cardiac experience).
  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory, coordinator or other similar leader role overseeing the day-to-day operations of an exercise physiology laboratory (pediatric lab preferred)
  • Experience in literature review, research methodology, and development of research protocols
  • Experience as a clinical instructor for student rotations and lecturer for affiliated university programs
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
  • PALS (American Heart Association) certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified (CEP) or Registered (RCEP) as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) within two years of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced to expert-level knowledge of the theory, practices, techniques and terminology associated with a comprehensive pediatric Exercise Physiology in an academic-affiliated, acute-care treatment facility.
  • Knowledge of local, state, national and other applicable guidelines, standards and/or requirements pertinent to the service area.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing, planning, implementing and managing technical, professional, and support activities as pertains to clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill sufficient for organizing, developing, prioritizing and directing subordinate leadership and staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management, personnel management, inventories, performance improvement, statistical measures, and report preparation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in utilizing computer hardware and a diverse selection of clinical and non-clinical software and databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective planning, organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated with diverse project management ability.
  • Able to function effectively and initiate action with limited direction or resources.
  • Able to facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
  • Able to identify deficiencies and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintains professional competencies required of Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Able to multi-task and fully perform leadership and/or staff-level functions in a clinical and/or non-clinical setting as required to meet service or support demands.
